Default Fuel tank- repair or replace?

Went to a couple of local body shops today and got quoted around $400 to repair and paint my fuel tank. Its the red/black color scheme. I can get a brand new tank for $650, shipping not included. Also have to swap all of the components into the new one. What would you do?

Unless your tank is destroyed why would you replace it? Go to several places and get quotes from those. Dont jump on the first quote. Search....

For me, no need to get a new one, used one is good enough, but you have to check if its rust..

How bad is it? If the body shops are talking about fixing it, why not pull the dents and smooth it yourself?

It has a good size dent on the RH side which got the Honda wing up to the filler opening. There are only a few good body shops around where I live and they both quoted $400-$500 to fix the tank. I'm just going to use the tank until I find a decent used one for sale and then swap components. I've seen some good deals on ebay. If it was any other part, I would pull the dent myself. But a fuel tank would require tacking the nails on and being very good at filler because of the tight angles. I don't have a lot of experience with that. Thanks for the advice everyone.

I am in the same situation as you are with my F4i, except isurance is paying me out so I have to get it fixed. My body shop quoted $300-$400 and I have to supply the sticker.
