97 600F3 - Repair or (part-out) and Replace?
I absolutely love this bike, it's been kept in perfect condition (am the 3rd owner), it has approx. 68k miles.
Last week, the fan suddenly stopped working, engine overheated, brown-goo (oil in coolant) spewing out overflow tube.
Shop says, "it needs new water pump; compression in cylinder #1 is 45psi, should be 165psi; valve clearance checks-out; need to remove head to confirm blown gasket, etc. - looking at (estimated) $1200."
Am debating whether to repair it, or part it out and get another bike.
Would appreciate feedback.
Thanks!

That's a real drag. I always worry about my engine. Albeit it doesn't have quite as many miles on it. 30k-ish. But I have done so much work on the customization I would have to really just flip a coin on parting or repair it.
My only thought is finding another bike may not be that bad given the time of year it is. People seem to dump their bikes in the winter time. In Canada we have to pay insurance all year round. So it's no surprise there is a good supply at cheap prices.
If you dump it, what would your next bike be? Another Honda?
