Default Symptoms for CCT replacement?

Can anybody give me detailed descriptions of the symptoms that will let me know I need to change the CCT on my 02 F4i?

Also, how much does a shop charge to do the work? I know theres a detailed tutorial on cbr world, but if the labor at the shop isn't too expensive, I'd rather have a pro do it instead of myself.

P.S. I used the fabolous search function and only came up on threads that ask about installing the CCT, nothing about the symptoms tho confirm a bad CCT.

I am not an expert, i'm kind of new to sport bikes, but I believe that the symptom is a rattle between 5 -6 k sounding like BB's in a steel can. After 6 k I believe it stops fot the most part. I've talked to one shop when I was looking at different motorcycles and read that Honda's sometimes need cct's replaced and was quoted at about $1000.00 with labor included. That did not seem like a reasonable quote beings I've read in these threads you can did it your self at home in not all that much time.

Thanks. Theres a big price difference, I guess I'll do it myself. If the noise is not a problem, what can happen if you keep riding with the noise? Sometimes when I'm in first gear and just coasting, it feels like the chain is rubbing against something, but there is no noise of it. It just feels real rough. But in every gear I will hear the "BBs in a cup" and feel the vibration until I get it up to 5 or 6k. I just hope my chain isn't going to fall off or anything that I can get hurt by.

i got quoted $100 with parts and labor, its a matter of taking the tank off, 2 bolts the tensioner is off 2 bolts the new one is on. maybe they thought you wanted to replace the cam chain.

From what ive heard only one bike had a freak blow up because of it...Ill take my chances til i have my tank off one of these days soon.. I'd only worry about it until you cant stand the noise anymore or if you are working on something else.
