startup - white smoke, flaming exhaust!

RE: startup - white smoke, flaming exhaust!
If I roll off of heavy throttle I can blow an easy foot long, if not longer, blue flame all day long. Adjustment of the mirror and you've got good entertainment on a long ride in the dark. People do look at me funny when I keep rolling on and off throttle but shrug.
fyi: full leovince exhaust.

I am with ThirdGen...Head gasket. Othet guys suggested coolant (I agree), even if your oil isn't frothy, it could stillbe a head gasket leak in a strange spot. Maybe a compression/leakdown test will shed light on this, also try 'reading' the plugs (I never had luck with that). Check coolant level and color as well as oil color.
As far as the flame part (could even be timing, bad injector, or maybe related to the moisture issue), fix the white smoke problem first, there is no reason to tune a motor that may need to be taken apart.

Thanks for all that feedback guys.
hmm now that you mention it... but this is the only time I've tried revving it any higher than 5k when cold [sm=gears.gif]. Usually I ride like it's a scooter until the tires/engine warm up.
My sparks have been changed at 12k so I'm assuming they're ok...
I'll keep you guys posted as and when I get a concrete solution!
(I'm still in denial about the head gasket, so I'm gonna try the other stuff... gives me an excuse to dyno tune )

I seriously doubt your head gasket is blown. Sounds like just tuning issues to me. I've never heard of one of these motors blowing a head gasket... and they can take a beating!
Now if it were a 6.0L diesel, head gaskets would always be my FIRST suspect!! hahahah [:@]
