Startup/warm up
I usually warm up until the fast idle drops and the engine sounds smooth.
DO NOT rev the engine when you start it. This is the worst time for a engine because the oil has drained back to the pan and everything is cold and dosent seal well.

Just to clarify that is usually only in the morning or at the end of the work day when the bike has been sitting for several hours.
If I come out of a store or something I just hop on and go. Again this is where I use the "fast idle" as a guide. If the ECU thinks the bike is cold enough to idle high, then it's cold enough for me to let it warm up.
