Default RE: Slowing down aftermarket turn signals?

When you said relay I was thinking of a relay that you'd use for connecting an airhorn or heated vest - where you use aswitched power source to open the relay, but would draw power straight from the battery... i.e. connect the horn wire to the relay so when you hit the horn button the relay opens and power is drawn straight from the battery (not through the horn relay/fuse) to run the larger horn.

So where/what is the relay you're using instead? I know more than one person who'd like one.

Woot.

okay, so two questions-
#1: if you choose to use the "relay method", do you need one for each signal or one for the two rear signals and one for the two front signals (i am replacing both f&r)
#2: if you choose to use the "resistor method", do you have to wire the resistors into the negative wire as well as the positive in the rear and the flasher wire in the front
thanks guys!

No, you only need one for the whole thing. your bike only has one relay for all the signals. that's the only thing you're replacing. It's a one for one replacement. one relay will control all four lights.

You need one resistor connected to the positive and negitive wire of each singal.

is that right? you wouldn't need it for the ground. i need to go check my wiring. i don't remember wiring it to the negative.

the resistor wouldn't work properly if the load only got passed through it. remember, the resistor has to service two circuits: the light bulb and the relay. just going through the positive cable only services the bulb.

it's all electrical. circuits in series and circuits in parallel.

You only need a resistor on the positive (red) wire of each turn signal.

All I'm saying is thats what I got on my LED's & it works. If you would like to put a resistor on the negative wire thats fine too. As long as it works.

When I got my integrator, it had resistors on the positive wires only. Pretty flimsy, so I got rid of them and got one of these flashers:

Works great, easy to install and cheap.
