Default Slow start, running rich. Fuel filter?

Hey guys,

My 01 F4i has been taking forever to start lately (must hold down starter button for a good 15-20 seconds before it'll catch if I haven't run it for a couple days, fine after it has warmed up). It also seems to be running rich because my mileage has decreased a bit and my friends say they can smell fuel/exhaust when riding behind me. Any thoughts as to what this might be? My initial idea is that it's the fuel filter, but I'd like to explore all options before I go taking the tank apart.

Thanks!

Fuel pressure regulator.

Pull the vacuum line and see if there is gas in it.

check on the condition of your spark plugs and air filter. it doesn't sound like it would be a fuel filter issue.
