Default seat dilemna

Alright so most with a 2001 f4i would agree with me that the seat flat out sucks. So it's either spend a few hundred on a corbin or take matters into my own hands. I was thinking of making this a winter project with a staple gun and material to pull the seat apart and lay down some kind of gel padding but not sure exactly what i should use for a material. Any suggestions? Has anyone ever done this before? thanks

Use the search, there was a topic just the other week on seats. I plan on reupholstering my seat this winter. Just dont slap foam on it. Layer the foam with different densities (harder, deeper, softer on top). you can use gel inserts or a memory foam pillow even. Build the seat and put it on the bike and test the fit. All the trimming and shaping it to your butt is what will make it a good seat.if it looks crappy after you are done with the old cover, you may have to get some new fabric to cover it with, or just take it to someone who does it for a living to sew you a nice custom seat cover that complements your paint.

search here... people have done this. If you have time then do it and save $$$! I'd say gel inserts or some memory foam or both. make sure the foam's not too soft so that you hit the plastic when you sit!
Here's a link I had saved:
