Default plz help with some maintenance

The speedo works but just reads 0. The other day it worked randomly then went back to 0, so i'm guessing its electrical, maybe something loose? Any ideas?? Also should i buy a manual cct or just replace the stock one with the same one? Also there is like a drowning repeating sound when i ride, its kind of strange. Could this be from the tires or maybe its the chain or transmission?

i'm having the same problem also with my speedo. goes off and on. good thing is there seems to be no problem besides staying at 0mph, bike still runs perfectly. Another really good thing is your mileage doesn't increase.

The speed sensor is on top of the tranny housing, under the throttle bodies.

Page 19-11 of the service manual goes into detail about testing and/or replacing the speed sensor...

yeah its gotta be the speed sensor connection, either at the point where two wires meet a little after the engine connection point or at the engine connection point itself... might require you to take the throttle bodies off[sm=lame.gif]

I had the same problem, would finally start working after 15-20mins riding. Got a cheap sensor from ebay.
Its pretty tricky to get to without basically stripping everything down but in the end a snake headed wrench, some small hands and a lot of cursing did the job with just the fuel tank propped up. When I took it out the end was crusted over like an old shower head and cleaned up fine. Didn't fancy trying it back in there though and the replacement has done the trick. Hope that helps.
