I plan on brining my bike in the shop for rgular servic.e gonna have them do the oil change and greese the chain. My bike just turned 5500miles today, so is there anythiing I should have done, check or replaced on it just as a matter of routine maintenance?

Dude, changing the oil and lubing the chain is probably the easiest thing to do to your bike (besides adding fuel). Do that stuff yourself and just have the dealership check the other more complicated things. That way, they can't charge you an hour a piece on the above mentioned maintenance procedures. But make sure you let them know in no uncertain terms that that oil and lube was already done and they need not bother.

yah dude, changing the oil is so easy, remove the plug, pull the filter, replace it and refill. Chain lube, get a can of wax and spray it.

Changing the oil is simple, do a search on it. As far as the chain, since I don't have a stand, I just get a squeeze bottle of kerosene and douche that bitch for a a few revolutions with some one slowly walking the bike. A very soft toothbrush helps loosen the gunk. Then I hit it with chain wax.

Let the dealer do valve adjustments and stuff if you don't feel comfortable, but oil/chain is easy.

There is one bolt on the bottom of your bike, take it off, and it drains. Between your headers is your filter. Take it off, replace new one. Replace bolt and filter, refill with new oil. I use sythetics. 20W-50. I never ride below 20 degrees and the 50 weight is cuz I ride hard and fast. Very high rpms and the thicker oil won't break down as quickly. Any brand that is designed for motorcycles, don't use car oil.

mobil one mx4t is what me and my brother use, 10w-40. its made for bikes and hold up really good. i have been using chain lube on my chain, but since my can of it just ran out im going to go to chain wax now. i changed my oil and filter yesterday and it only took MAYBE an hour and was extremely easy, so i would just do it yourself and save the money IMO.

A car oil is fine as long as its not labelled Energy Conserving.
