... Go ask the body shops you are thinking about having paint your bike. No one on this forum can tell you how much people/shops in your area are going to charge you.

Yeah what teko said. Its all based on what kind of paint you want if you want it one color or more than one, and if you take it to a hack place like maaco. All i can tell you is that it will be between 500 to 3000 depending on what I said b4. If you do it yourself it will be a lot cheaper but you will need some skill to do it. I painted my own bike for around 400 bucks (thats just primer, paint, tri stage paint, and clear) but then again I did work at a bodyshop for 4 years painting cars.

Just go to a bunch of different shops and ask them for a quote, also what will make it cheaper is if you take off all the parts yourself and take off all the decals so that way when you bring it in your will save a couple houndred dollars in labor costs.

Just my 2 cents.

Hey GBCBR, or anyone else for that matter, Do you have any tips for spraying the clear coat? I'm in the process of painting my bike now and I just can't get the clear to spray just right. its either too heavy and it runs or its not enough and it speckles. Also, if I'm spraying one area, the overspray gets on another area and leaves little speckled bumps... its really annoying.

Any tips?

Funny I was looking at this today for my bike. Here's a good link I found on painting it yourself. It's directed at fairings but you get the idea.

man there are so many factors that go into it, the market you are in the paint you are wanting to use, the number of coats and clear coats you want if you want custom paint or jus a basic paint job... mine is a black with a red pearl but i have 10 coats on my bike so it has alot of depth... DBEAU with the runs and specks that are showing up in it... if you are not in a ventalated paint booth you are going to have them and theres not too much you can do about it, although after the paint starts to set up it will still be soft 24-48 hours it will be safe to buff, and if you buy a good buffer with the correct pads and at least a decent buffing compound and polishing compound you can get virtually everything out of it as far as runs and specs that show up on your infal clear coat

Well you don't need a paint booth first of all. I've painted a lot of cars in my day and half of them were not painted in a booth. As far as clear goes dbeau you want to be sure your spraying at around 24 psi with a 1.8 mm tip on the gun. Now with clear it's very difficult to get it down. You want to be sure to go slow but yet fast enough with your hand motion. Just be sure to b about 10-14 inches away from the part your painting. Once you get the motion down and get the feel for it clear will get easier. If I were you I would pratice on a spare piece of something and just get it down.
