Tahoe, now that I think about it your probably right on tar. The bike got hot enough to melt that crud inside cover and make it look like it was oozin out. That's why this forum is so good, different people will help ya refocus when yer freakin out and not puttin enough thought into things.

yep sounds like the same thing my 06 did after 250 miles lol. sucks but thats ur problem

Yea i see low to mid 220's in traffic or traffic lights. Fan kicks on around 224 and cools it down, once i get going goes back well under 200 to around 180

my bike hit 98 the other day and i started to flip shut the bike off and everything and have never gotten back on since... so if i see another overheating question without a search for it done im gonna find you and kick your bike over.

Reading this thread put my mind to rest about my bike...So I have no worries now. But on a similar not don't forget to check the coolant level (AND IT'S NOT ON THE RADIATOR)!
