rode my bike about a month ago before it got cold as **** again here in chitown and it was fine. its warmed up and now i go to start my bike and it won't fire up. it has fired up a couple times and when i go to give it a couple of revs it shuts off. when that happens it won't fire up at all. my battery then went dead. so i went to jump it and still wouldn't fire up. at one point it fired a dark cloud of smoke out of the exhaust. really wierd **** going on all of a sudden. let me know what you guys think. thanks

 

It could be a number of problems.You jumped your battery? Try doing a trickle charge on your battery and see what happens.

don't think it could be a voltage regulator do you? the battery is basically brand new.

 

Dead is dead, when they sit it happens. Charge the battery and see if that does the trick. It is the easiest and cheapest place to start. It isn't recommended to jumpstart them, it can short out the computer. If that don't work we'll go from there to try an help.

 

Yea i would definetly try to charge the battery. Same thing happened to me, i got my 02F4i last Friday and started it up 3 or 4 times and idled it for a little bit. My dad then goes to take it for a ride sunday and it wont start. Charged the battery (trickle charge possibly) for 1-2 hours and it fired right up and has been perfect since so try that.

 

thanks, im going to try it tomorrow cuz im picking my trickle charger up then. company sells em so i gots the discount. ill let ya know how it goes.

 

mine did a similar thing. I bet ya fouled your plugs. probably left a very small of fuel in the tank when it sat and fouled them as soon as u tried to start it. that's what happened to me

 

well here is what happened after i trickle charged the battery for a couple hours. i eventually got it to fire up. i let it idle for like 5 min and then i gave it a big rev and after that it died. couldn't get it started up again. so what do you think? new plugs? new battery?
