police should really waive that impounded fee. It's not your fault the bike ends up there. Sorry to see the damages.

New rear rim and wiring harness plus a clutch lever and you'll be good to go riding wise. Could have been much worse.....

Yeah +1 i'm really surprised you had to pay the impound fee. That doesn't make sense.

After a little bit of fiddling around with the ignition I was able to get the peices of whatever the theives used to pop it out of the mechanism. After cleaning it up and rebuilding it, I resoldered the wires and it actually worked!

Was a bit disappointed that it wouldn't start at first...in fact no power at all in spite of a fully charged battery but a quick search of the forums helped me find some info about other bikes that had been hotwired and I learned that the main fuse will usually blow. Popped the seat off and found the main fuse and sure enough, it was blown. Replaced it and got power. Turned the key, hit start and she fired right up!

A bit of white smoke because she was on her side and almost upside down when she was dumped, but that burned off pretty quickly.

The "new" owner, forum member jveach came down from Kentucky, looked her over and decided that he wanted her so she is on her way to her new home with him now.

Just wanted to close by saying a big THANKS! to everyone for your kind thoughts and words, and the info you have provided over the last several months. I no longer have a CBR but still have my Yamaha so I won't be around as much but will pop in from time to time to see if I can help out.

You are all a great bunch. Ride Safe!

David

Yup she's home now... I hope to get her back on the road to recovery ASAP. I already love the bike.

This is when you leave it in the same place, and this time leave a camera outside rolling.

Find the kid and give him some street justice
