Default New Member - Few Questions

Hey guys, just picked up a yellow/black '02 F4i with 8800 miles, Yoshi exhaust and Corbin (front) seat yesterday. I've got my permit, and this is my first bike. I've already signed up for the MSF Basic course which is in about 10 days. I've got some experience on atv's and dirtbikes, but just riding around a parking lot it's a whole different ball of wax. Trying to take it really easy in the meantime, and get a feel for it. Including a few hours on the bike around a big parking lot yesterday, did about twenty miles on pretty empty roads with a friend.

Few questions...

The Corbin seat piping digs into my legs when standing, and my guys get sore after about 30 minutes in the seat... I've read a few posts that have said this is normal, but I didn't have this problem when I was riding my buddies F2 w/ stock seat around the parking lot... I'm about 6'0, 160.

Is there a helmet lock anywhere on the bike?

I noticed the reserve gauge appeared yesterday, but there's no fuel gauge correct?

How do you set the clock (previous owner was original owner, he's going to try and find the manual for me)?

It has a vibration as the clutch is being let out in gear (taking off from a stop)... Is this normal?

Thanks!

Congrats on the new bike man. I just picked up the same, and like you, it's my first bike.

Some things I have noticed:

The clock, you have to press and hold the bottom button for a bout 3 seconds, and then the Hours will flash. You press the same button to change the hours, and then to switch to minute press the top button.

As for the Helmet lock, I don't think so. I have yet to find one.

As for the Vibration, I don't get the vibration, at least I don't think so.

As for the seat, I don't know, dont have that seat. But I've gone on a few rides, one of which was 200 miles, and yes, it hurts the boys more than my KFX400

yea the corbin seat is wider than stock so will dig into your legs if you're standing...so at 6 feet, don't stand...just put your feet down...at 160, gain some weight ;-) as far as sore butt...it could be too soft, but the stocker is hard as a rock...you will most likely get used to it as the seat forms to your butt.

yes, helmet lock is in the rear, take off the rear seat, you'll see a bar that runs across...there are little hooks in there, put the D ring from the helmet on that then put the seat back on it.

yes, no fuel gauge.

setting the clock, i think you hold top and bottom buttons down for 3 seconds and then the time will blink...

vibration? what kind? it's a bike and it'll have lots of vibrations, most likely just shuddering like close to stalling, etc.

enjoy!

The vibration is probably you not giving it enough throttle on take-off, so its almost stalling. Give it more juice man! I have the stock seat on my bike and everytime I brake or accelerate I slide forward and backward. I rode the same bike with a Corbin seat, oh man, that seat is sweet, soo comfortable and no sliding around, it also puts you in the perfect position. You lucked out with the Corbin seat
