Default need clutch advice

Hi,
I have a 2001 f4i, which developed a clutch problem. Currently it does not disengage. The actuator (lower clutch lever that connects to the clutch cable) moves freely and moves up when I pull it. Still haven't opened the clutch to see what is wrong.
My question is: last time I opened the clutch I noticed there were 7 friction plates (and 6 metal plates). Is this OK for a 2001 F4i? Everywhere I look they show an 8 friction plate clutches for all F4i models. The clutch of the F4 has 7 friction plates. Is it possible that Honda has used the older F4 clutch design on the 2001 F4i? Here are some pictures, I hope someone can resolve my confusion.

The problem was a broken actuator.
