Major engine problems.. help!!!
ive got an '01 with about 15,000 miles on a then new crate motor. Heres the history if it helps: the #1 spark plug came loose. had my friend "fix" it. however, later i found out he just torked the F****erdown and stripped it. but didnt know this since it ran fine for a few thousand more miles. then i went down around 8,000 miles. not bad, just had to replace the front upper and gauges. i got really lucky. rode for another 3-4k miles, then the #1 and #2spark plugs came loose... had to have them drilled out. did all 4 plugs witha heli-coil kit. got the bike back, and rode for a few hours and now its having trouble AGAIN! it sounds like its trying to fire, but it wont quite turn over. any ideas??? what can i check? im really new to the mechanic thing, and i really want to fix this myself. im handy and not a dumbass so if i know WHAT to do, i can do it no problem.any ideas???thanks guys!
well it sounds like a spark plug issue since it appears you have a history of it. Also, have you done the basic checks..like your battery wires or checking to see if the kick stand is loose? Try rechecking the wiring of your gauges...if they werent properly put on it "may" cause a problem (not sure if it would cause it not to start but it doesnt hurt anything by checking)
...also, try your starter, maybe it;s going bad as well too

Are you saying your engine won't even crank?? Hopefully it is a battery, starting, wiring issue.....
Who did the heli-coil? Did they do a good job cleaning/blowing the shavings out of the cylinder after the heli coil? Did you change your oil right away to get ride of any potential shavings that made their way down into the pan??
Put a breaker bar on your cranksaftbolt and try to crank the engine by hand...If it won't crank by hand (engine or accessory seized) be ready to possibly rebuild the engine....
