Long trips on the F4i? I'm talking really long
I've done slightly over 1,100 miles in a day on my 1000RR
I've ridden from St. Louis to Key West and back on a 1 cyl enduro 500cc - about 3,000 miles RT, although not all in one day.
The best advice I could give for long days in the saddle of a motorcycle would be to get a tank bag and stuff it full. They make a great pillow to rest your head on as you pass the hours away on the superslab.
Thats over 90mph for 12 hours strait, no fuel breaks. Why in the world would you do this, and how long did it take you?

However, I did take a couple of breaks for gas and other things. When I was riding it was mostly on the Interstate and traffic flow was usually 70-75 mph. Actually, I think it ended up being 25.5 hours total. I rode from St. Louis to Birmingham and back to pick up the forum sprocket for the coast-to-coast challenge.

Anyway, besides a tank bag to rest on during a long ride I also recommend a throttle lock. That right wrist gets pretty tired after many hours.

I did a trip last year through Europe and we aimed for around 250miles a day and with stops , lunch , Traffic , set off time and the unexpected it was still 9hrs on the saddle and then pitch our tents when we got there . Tiredness also played a big part. We camped 2 nights in Amsterdam as well which was an eye opener ;-) . It is something you will never forget really glad I did it , not on a CBR though I had an 06 Transalp then , No matter what padding or how thick , your *** still goes numb .
Thanks for the replys; I've got parts showing up this week - chain and sprockets today, pads & brake fluid tomorrow; I'll be replacing the chain and sprockets, doing the start of the season oil change, installing my adjustable levers & maybe a coolant flush this weekend.
Next week I'll be trying to get used to stock sprockets again, and hopefully ordering my brake lines and my corbin seat. I need to do some work on my truck though, so it will cut into motorcycle time the following weekend. Brake lines, pads and fluid will all be done within a couple weekends. I'll need to get tires soon, I'm thinking end of March so I'll have time to break them in pre-trip.
I'ts going to be a busy few months for me...

7200 miles !?!?! are you riding around the entire country, or going to panama? seriously, whats the route? i want to hear about the trip. i hope you are going to document it well...
Just one of those things I've always wanted to do, once I'm married I won't be able to so I'm trying to get it done now.
A 3-week, 7,200 trip would wear me out in a car with padded seats without the added wind, rain, sun, noise, exhaust fumes or bugs to deal with. I don't think I'd want to try it on a motorcycle, whether I could or not. Good luck on your adventure.
One thing I didn't see mentioned that I've read elsewhere is to wear a pair of bicycling shorts under your jeans. They say the added padding helps your posterior discomfort to be more bearable.
