Default Important Spark Plugs Question

Hi guys

I changed my Plugs on saturday. Wow i had to dissemble all the bike. Remove the air filter, the ducts, the front face. everything. After that, Everything was CLEAR, the plug change was EASY.

the thing is that i didnt had my manual at hand, so i went to a local BIKE parts place and asked for Stock CBR600 f4i PLUGS and they gave me NGk CR9EK (dual tip)

I installed them and everything went fine. the bike runs great. better than before. The thing is that After i finished and put all the bike together, i checked the manual and recommend DENSO Iridiums or NGK iridiums.

The ones i got are CR9EK dual tip, copper..

its very wrong that i use this plug? its obligatory to use iridiums? Or iridiums just give me longer change intervals . I dont want to cause any damage to my bike.

Any advise?

Alex

Guys.. ANother quick question

When i installed everything back, i DIDNT installed the following rubber parts circled in the following picture.

I DIDNT installed them because i didnt checked on the internet until now, and i didnt remember were they goes.

Does anybody know what is the real purpose of them? Are they REALLY necessary, that i need to stop the bike and install them right away>?

rubber stuff is to keep out water and dirt, dust, etc...

as far as spark plugs....

the plugs you got would work for the F2, F3, and F4...so it should be ok...may just not last as long, but as far as the coldness of the plugs, same...

i've used plat plugs on the F4i...and between them and stock iridium, couldn't tell a difference.

So what's a high performance plug?
Any coil/ ignition maintenance you'd recommend at the plug change?
I need to do some work to my bike, but everytime I put it away the weather gets nice. This Saturday was HOT HOT HOT....high 70s low, maybe even low 80s.

iridiums are HP plugs...but i seriously could not tell the difference between plats and those!

as far as coil...the manual never says to replace them...so i guess you replace them only when they stop working...oh yea...if you check the price on the coils...BALING!!!

Most manufacturers use platnium or iridium spark plugs due to the extended service life. Performance increase is a myth, just like the octane issue. You should notice a minute gain in power with your copper plugs and this is due to the conductivity of the copper, however the service life is greatly reduced.

I use copper NGKs (BKR7E-11s) in my fully built n/a Integra Type R.

thank you guys...

so i guess instead of the 16K interval replacement recommened by the manual, i will change them when they reach around 6K just to make sure everything is OK.

The rubber pieces... i dont know if its worth to remove everything again to put them on......... they doesnt cover the airbox, they cover like under the airbox. like were the fuelrail injectors goes.. right? behind the Valve cover.

I was reading an article posted here from Sparkplugs.com on plugs. They say the Denso Iridiums are 0.4 mm and NGK are 0.7 mm tip size. According to the article the smaller tip is preferable to performance. I've learned to favor NGK because I'm a Japanese car owner so that's all I use in the cars, and have for 10+ years (bad experience with AC Delco).

Anyways, it's not like I'm loyal to NGK, but has anyone seen a difference over the Denso's. I think they are cheaper too.

I'm considering going platinum for additional cost savings as well, as I'm seeing a trend that the performance on unmodified engines is similar.
