Default Newbie Question; Spark Plugs

Do I really have to remove the tank and air box to change the plugs? It looks pretty tight down there and my hands are not small. I pulled one wire, and that seemed difficult. Also, who sells plugs (besides the Honda dealer) and what type? Thanks.

No you dont have to remove the tank and air box. But............. If you remove the radiator and side fairings its alot easier.

I use NGK Iridiums CR9EHIX-9 spark plugs. Iridium plugs give a better throttle response and a better burn than OEM plugs.

You can buy spark plugs for your bike at auto parts stores. They may not have them in stock but usually have them the next day much cheaper than buying them from the dealer.

You can probably find them online. Check Amazon. As far as what type it'll list that in your owner's manual.

I've changed all 4 plugs without removing anything but the side access panels/vents. Took a variety of extensions, I don't have the smallest hands, but they aren't huge either, but it can be done.

I used the NGK Iridiums mentioned in the earlier post: CR9 heat range.

Well I haven't tried to change plugs yet but I did go out today to start it up. It idled for a few seconds then died. Tried it again, same thing. It won't idle and every time I give it the slightest amount of gas it dies. Now it wouldn't start and backfires pretty bad. What the hell am I doing wrong that I can't get this thing to run??

Does it have some old fuel in it from a long winter storage?

I just changed all my plugs on my 96 F3 and simply used a spark plug socked and a swivel joint. Worked like a charm.
