Hey guys I just bought my first bike, a 2001 CBR F4i with 7500 miles on it for 4500. I didn't notice this when I bought it but the digital gas gauge is not working and I dont think the fan motor is working either. I dont care so much about the fuel gauge but the fan I do care about and need I would think. Im not sure if the engine has not gotten hot enough for it just not to turn on. At what engine temp does the fan ussaully turn on???? It seems to get really hot down by my left leg, is that normal? Any info you could give me on either subject would be great since I have little knowledge about motorcycles.

The digital gauge for the fuel comes on when at the reserve level. 4 bars then, then 3 bars and so on. No gas gauge exists when above the reserve (about .9 gallons left). The fan will kick on around 222 degrees (between 220 and 225). Other than that it will not come one and the heat you feel should be normal.

 

What is the hottest temperature you have seen? My fan on my 02 F4i kicks on at about 224 degrees. I was wondering the same about the fuel gauge, good to know!
