Default Gauge issues

Hi all,

Just got a 2001 F4i and it has a few issues. When the key is turned on, everything lights up just fine. However, after it is running it has these issues:
1. The speedo is at 0 and the odo stays at the current mileage.
2. The fuel gauge bar graph disappears
3. The FI light comes on after awhile and sometimes turns off.

Are 1 and 2 related? Fuse issue perhaps?

I think that 3 could be due to the old crap gas that was still in the tank. The bike runs great so I thought I would run the gas down a bit, put in some injection cleaner, and refill and see how that goes.

Many thanks in advance,

Joel

Okay, I found out the the fuel gauge doesn't come on until you hit reserve. That's good to know. Perhaps the speed sensor is loose or shot. I'll have to do some diagnostics. Also, the previous owner just told me that the FI light has been intermittent since day one, so I am thinking that it is an electrical gremlin, not an actual FI issue.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Cheers,

Joel

try some fuel injection cleaner. That stuff can work wonders. If it seems to running ok I wouldnt even worry about it.

The FI light is proly a loose connection on one of the sensors (map sensor)
