hey everybody i just bought a red/black 2001 cbr f4i yesterday...dont know much about them and had a couple questions. First, when you turn the key on the gas gauge goes through a check but it then goes off?....did it come with one and it does not work or did it not come with one?....if it didnt come with one is there any kind of conversion or any way way i can get it to work. next i have a ratling noise in the front area of the bike around 2000 rpm's...i saw a post on here about it possibly being a cct problem...i was wondering what a cct is?....thanks for your time

 

The Gas Gauge is a RESERVE indicator.... will only come on once your fuel is getting low and on reserve.
The gas gauge will not come on if the bike is using gas from the main tank... so your bike is normal!![sm=smiley20.gif]

Apparently other than the annoying rattling, its not a bid deal. Most people replace it with either a manual APE tensioner or a OEM automatic one.

 

No gauge, just a reserve set of lights. And the rattle sounds like the cam tensioner. Mine's been doing it for 4 years with no failures.

 

I just replaced my CCT last weekend due to the rattling from the OEM to the APE manual CCT and it sounds great with no rattles.
