I've had my 2001 F4I up to 163 (all stock) with a little RPM left. Why is the rated top speed 154? Did the throttle cable which crosses in front of the speedometer distort what I saw which could of actually been 153? Has anybody else had theirs over 154? If I'm correct a stock F4I will top out at least at 170mph (on a good road with perfect conditions).

 

That is the indicated speed not the actual speed. The actual speed is about 15 to 20 percent slower

i got a hand held gps that tells me my speed
i just set it to hold my highest speed
my bikes new so iv been a little shaky but i made it to 150

 

the top speed of my speedo read 164. I just got a new gps unit but i havent had a good opportunity to check out my top speed with it yet. As soon as the chance arises i will post with the actual gps speed.

 

My speedo was reading about 163 mph, the GPS was showing 150 mph. I didn't think that it would be off by that much! I think that I am going to get one of those speedo healers.

I could have probably got a few more MPH out of it but I was rapidly approaching a baby blue caddilac and there was a hill blocking my view so I couldnt see if there was anyone coming in the other lane. I wasnt too excited about crashing head on into a vehicle doin 150.
