I ride till the reserve comes on, then make my way to a gas station if it's on the way. I haven't even thought about calculating gas mileage, cause i'll forget to reset the miles. But it should be over 30, no matter what. Unless you rip it the whole way anywhere.

Checking milage is a prius mentality? Its just another common sense thing to do. If you figure out you get 45mpg, then all a sudden your getting 30 then you know something is up with your bike before it because a really big problem. "it is what it is"....and you've never wanted to know what "it" is? Just because I like to know what milage I get dosen't mean I try to maximize it.

i typicaly get around 46-52. i do mostly freeway and if i keep it out of the 70-80mph i will get closer to the 52. i fill to the bar and no more. If i do more i will get some run off of the bleeder and just wasting gas there. i get 160 before the reserve shows up but can usually push it to the 180 mark before a refill.

Thanks for all your comments guys. At least I know by bike is not the only one that does this. I hear your comments about paying too much attention to this stuff but I am little technical and observant in nature. I will also echo what boredandstroked said. You get a better feel about how your bike is doing overall as you keep the pulse on things like fuel mileage etc.
Once again, thank you all!

Yes I feel like I drive forever once all 4bars flash. When I fill it up I go just over that little tab you are all talking about in the tank.

I usually fill up at around 3.6-3.7 gallons. On onw tank I get about 130-140 miles when the bars show up and thats with both city/hwy driving at around 70-85 mph.

Seem that everyone is hitting the same ballpark range, more or less.
