If it is like the earlier bikes (954,929) it should have an automatic reserve. In other words. you dont really have a reserve just a big gas tank. The owners manual should tell you how many gallons it holds.

If it's a 1000RR you'll get a fuel light when you've got about a gallon (35-40 mi) left. After this is gone there is no reserve, unless you can pee 94 octane of course.

What if I can only pee 92 octane, will I be ok until I reach the next gas station?

To the original poster, I think the reserve is .9 gallons but there is no switching over. I wouldn't count on going much more than 25 miles once the light comes on, just to be safe.

The best thing to do is every time you fill up, reset you tripometer by holding down the button till it clears to zero. Then pay attention to your milage every time your fuel lght comes on and you will get a feeling for the amount of milage it takes before it comes on and you will get used to getting fuel about every 125-135 miles.

listen man i do ride almost every night. i dont really pay attention to how much im gettin in mpg cause i ride in the city and there r gas stations everywhere and im concentratin more on not gettin hit by the old folk. i heard that some bikes had a reserve that u could switch over to and looked at the honda website and it said it had a .9 gallon reserve and was wonderin if i needed to switch over in case of an emergency this weekend. i dont like runnin out of the gas where the people say "U got a purty mouth". lil scary. relax kid

fortunately i didnt run into any problems this weekend. i filled up in ocala and there i reset the trip meter and found out that after goin every bit of 100mph most of the way that the gas light dont come on till im over 100 miles into the trip.

Reserve is kind of a deceptive term; its not like older bike with a manual valve, it's just an indicator light that comes on when you have about a gallon of fuel left. The comment about the odometer is dead on...make sure you always use it and reset it when you fuel up.
