Default 06' Ping/Valve Noise

My 06 1kRR seems to have a"pinging" noise on lite acceleration, lite throtttle (like leaving a stop sign slowly). I have yet to figure out what it is, I run 93/94 octane fuel, I just recently put 114 race fuel in it.....still does it. It's around 450Mi now, Another 'place' I posted this they told me just to ride it...but damn all that pinging/rattling can't be good on the slugs. N E 1 else experiencing this sound? If I hammer on it..it's fine.

for the rattling, could it be Injector Noise? Not sure about this but does the 06 have
Dual Injectors on each Cylinder. The 05/06 GSXR 1K's have the dual injectors per cylinder
and you can definitely hear it when accelerating.

As for the Pinging, can you be more specific on where it is coming from,
and possibly what RPM range you hear it in?

I do not have an 06 CBR1000RR yet, but it is on my short list

I hear it at about 2500 to 5 maybe 6000 RPM at real light throttle under light load. It's definately coming from the upper engine area, seems to more predominant while on the bike (From under the tank area) than when your standing on the sidewalk as I pull out. Any kind of heavy throttle seems to make it go away..or maybe the intake noise in just burrying it.

the 06 1krr sounds like a sewing machine, its really noisy, and that is normal; if you are really concerned, swing it by the dealer just to be sure; i no longer have that problem, my two bros is so loud, i can't hear the engine

I have the 05 1k and havent had a problem yet wit engine noise. U guys sure u broke them in good enough yet? I noticed a big difference in just power after i put 3k miles on mine...again i never heard a ratteling or pingin noise but i could tell the engine did get alot more smooth when riding by delivering power a whole lot faster

Not me. I picked my '06 liter CBR up last Saturday. The 150 miles I've ridden since then haven't had a single ping (or valve clacking). 91 octane gas. (and I know what valves clacking sound like, from my BMW F650CS when it's cold.)

I think pinging or clacking may be a bit of stretch, but honestly, the 1krr motor is noisy in its stock form; I know at least 8 riders here with them (05 & 06) and they all make the same noise, but its not the pinging (valve float) or spark knock noises you tend to get from low octane or bad fuel, its simply a noisy motor. Thats why, without being able to hear it, i suggested he run it by the shop....you would be suprised how many people mistake what is the normal sounds of our engines and think there is something wrong....maybe he'll take it by and we will find out...hopefully its just the normal sounds
