Default Coolant Concerns

The temperatures are dropping so i wanted to go ahead and get a coolant replacement out of the way. Since before my ratio wasn't exactly winter proof i wanted to put 50/50 in there. My concern is that the dealer told me the coolant capacity is just under 3 quarts and after flushing everything my system only took about 1.75 quarts. I flushed very well with distilled water but now im worried that the remaining 1Qt. is just H2O so my ratio is off and it will be a problem over the winter. What do you guys think?

*Something i found interesting - I read in another post someone running their cooling system full of Water Wetter.... Isn't watter wetter an additive? Wouldn't you think it bad to run straight watter wetter and nothing else.

The coolant I bought from the dealer is premixed does Honda still sell 50/50 coolant ? Also did you remove 2 bolts to drain the coolant ,one from the water pump and one from the Cylinder which i couldn`t find

Cylinder plug for anyone wondering is more to the left or trans. lever clutch lever side of the bike, its behind the headers above the oil filter. Helps to have fairings off to access the little guy. It doesn't stand out and just going by memory alone right now, I think there are some other similar lookingbolts near it. You'll know you got the right one as you turn it open.

If you mix your coolant/water in a container before putting it in or just use premixed then you can keep pouring in new and dumping out old until you are sure all the old has been flushed out. I like to run about 55% distilled water, 40% coolant and 5% water wetter for various reasons, although premix Honda 50/50 is fine.

Then me try to make this more clear.I ran straight water through the system to clean it out. Then i re-filled with 50/50. My concern is that the system only took about 1.75 quarts and the system takes almost 3 quarts. Therefore, there is about 1 quart of straight water along with the 50/50. Is this going to be a problem when it gets really cold i.e. freeze?

I understand what you are saying, of all the fluid in your system there is a disproportionate amount of water to coolant. Just drain more of what is in there and add more coolant or add more 50/50 until you are comfortable with the mixture. Depending on how cold it gets where you live it may not matter too much anyway. Worst case the water freezes and cracks your block but even a smallish amount of antifreeze would prevent that in most climates.

Turn the bike on. Let it run a couple seconds and turn it off. Take a look at the coolant. Is it the same color as the 50/50 mix? Less or more green then the 50/50 mix? Pretty easy to figure this out.
