Still working on the wrecked bike. The left handle bar is off the bike, so I decided to check on the clutch cable, near the engine. I disconnected the cable and begin moving the lever (on the engine) back and forth. I was SURPRISED to notice the lever:
1) Doesn't spring back to orignial position vigorously. Shouldn't it??? Is the return spring not very strong?
2) When pushing the lever backwards, it rotates almost fully backwards, about 3/4 of the way. Again seemed odd.
Pretty pathetic post, but I'd appreciate any info from someone who's recently worked on their bike. THANKS!

The clutch lever is kinda cheap on these bikes, you may need to lube something up by the connection to see if it gets better, and i dont quite kno what you are talking about as for the lever rotating back, do you mean when you push it away from the bar it goes that way? like opposite it should. It sounds like you need a new line and lever to me

 

If you disconnect the clutch cable there's no tension on the lever. the spring's at the crankcase. Dont get what you mean by rotating and moving backward.

 

What I mean is: the lever by the crankcase. (With the cabledisconnected) WhenI pull it forward by hand (clutch engaged), it comes real easy. WhenI let it go, it barely returns to normal position. Once in normal position, if I push it backward, it rotates almost 3/4 of a circle. It just seemed real loose and pathetic. I was just curious of all f4i's were this way???

 

Hmmm i think your return spring might be bad. I went to check it on mine and its very hard. I told my brother to pull in the clutch and i tryd to hold the lever from moveing back and it just pushd my hand back. I took some pics sorry their kinda dark bike is next to a wall didnt feel like moveing it.

Nope dont think so. I dont think it would be that hard to make it. All u need is another master and a slave cylinder and route some lines thats all. I dont know if bikes have pressure plates like cars do. But if you could get like a Stage 3 like you can for a car then u need a lot of help to compres that pressure plate. I think thats only reson u would need hydraulic. But why go thru all the extra work [sm=sleeping.gif]
