I don't use K&N anymore, but when I did I was cleaning with a dilutedSimple Green mix...75% water giving plenty of drying time.

Oiled with the K&N or similar air filter oil.

I use the recharger kit.......buy just one and it will last until you decide to throw K&N away. LOL.

I've always used the K&N kit. If you want something to work properly and last as long as it's supposed to, you should follow the manufacturers recommendations, right? Also it is extremely important to let it completely dryand oil it before you reinstall it. Without the oil it misses alot of the particulate and if you put it in wet it could fubar your motor. I know a guy that screwed up a mint H-22 motor in a prelude from not letting it dry!

from what i know, bmc and k&n are very similar. both filiters are used to improve performance. i run a bmc because it flows a little more air.(so i heard). when i cleaned it, i just used some simple soap and water.
