Changing the windscreen
I just put the stock windscreen back on when I bought my F4i a couple weeks ago. The guy I bought it from had chopped the black one off at the top to make it even with the edges of the front cowl, which looked like he took a hacksaw to it....wasn't nice to look at at all. Ended up painting the inside of the stock one with Krylon Fusion paint, about 4-5 coats, came out awesome. Took some Meguiars Plastx I think it's called to the outside of it to try and polish out some of the scratches that were on it, and it actually turned out pretty good. I was surprised. I needed to save some money somewhere since the bike turned out to be somewhat of a money pit as soon as I bought it. By far the rubber nubbin thingeys were the worst part, tore my fingers up. But like above I used needle nose pliers and a dab of vaseline to help squeeze them through. Worked well, but still sucked. Good luck, it's probably one of the easiest things you can do to improve the look of your bike.
for those pita "rubber nubbins" (*****) if you order a set of windscreen screws on ebay they usually come with new "rubber nubbins" that are designed alot better. you first put the rubber through the outside of the windscreen to in (they look like they have an attached washer kinda) and then put the screen under your fairing and put the screw though and there is no nut/rubber to hold at all. the under the screen part of the ruber bevels out as you tighten the screw and they cut down on vibration noise. Ill post pics when i get around to taking some. for now her is a crude ms paint representation. lol
Holy F*&k nuggets Batman! I'm an idiot.... can't believe I've been doing it wrong all these years! As soon as I read"put the rubber through the outside of the screen" the lightbulb went off. Thanks for straightening out the rubber nubbin crew!
I WANT SOME RUBBER NUBBINS!!
Everytime I drop a windscreen bolt behind the gauge cluster i spend the next 30 mins cussin' my face off trying to get it out.. My neighbors must think i have tourettes...

I have literally lost over 40 dollars in those rubber things, the dealer stocks them just for me now... hahhaha
Unfortunately on my r6 you have to remove the full front fairing to remove the windshield
and to do that you need to remove both side fairings hahaha

Why don't you guys just take your front fairing off when you replace the windscreen? It only takes like 10 minutes to take it off. I'd never attempt to do it with the fairing attached, haha.
