You are correct sir. Make sure when you check the oil level the bike is level and that oil comes up to the top of the line located at the bottom of the dipstick (the dipstick is connected to the "black plastic twist off thingymajig"). Also, make sure you use 4 stroke motorcyle oil, NOT car/truck oil.

Happy riding!

o-yea you'd probably wanna change your oil filter too.. i use te K&N in that way i dont have to find a seperate wrench.. it just useses the same bolt as the oil drain screw instead of those big bulky oil filter wrenches

In reply to turlesplatter, car/truck oil will not hurt your motorcycle. I myself use amsoil motorcycle oil. I have used regular synthetic car/truck oil before. I don't want to get in a big discussion on the subject but alot of time car/truck oil is much better than motorcycle oil. If you go to the dealer and pay $8.99 for a quart of Honda motorcycle oil you are just throwing money away. You can get Castral GTX for $1.50 a quart and it has much higher ratings. Some motorcycle oil have ratings that are over 30 years old. Car oil has the most up to date ratings. Some car oils I would think twice about before putting in your bike but most well know oils will work just as good, cost less, and is probably better for your motorcycle. As long as it doesn't say ENERGY CONSERVING or something with the rating. You do not want this oil, it will affect your clutch. I have done huge amounts of research on the "motorcycle oil scam." When you buy "honda" oil you are paying for the name, not because it is some super, out of this world, high performance, million dollar race oil that must be run in honda bikes because if you don't it will throw a rod through your block or smoke all your bearings and clutch.
