Default Changing Oil

Hey guys I am new to bikes, so i know this is probably a stupid question, but i was going to change my oil today but i dont know if i need to remove the exahust and then the oil pan... or what. I looked around in my service manual and on this forum but did not see what i am looking for. Do i just let oil out of the pressure release? Any advice would be appreciated

Default RE: Changing Oil

It's easy!!
Just take off one side of the fairing,usually the right side is easiest, on the sump above the exhaust you will see the sump plug,
the oil isn't under any pressure, let the engine warm up to thin the oil down,
put some tin foil over the top of the exhaust as the oil spills over the exhaust and makes a real mess,
undo the plug and let all the oil drain out,
remove the oil filter this is why you need to remove the fairing, make sure the tin foil is covering the exhaust under the oil filter too.
let the oil drain,
wipe clean all the surfaces, replace the sump plug, fit a new sealing washer to the plug if you have one and torque it up to 38Nm or 27ft lbs
smear some oil on the sealing ring of the filter and screw it on tight just by hand,
fill the enging with the correct amount of oil, then put the red enging kill switch to off and crank the engine over for 5 secs on the starter button you will see the oil light go out.
re check the oil level, top up if it needs it, then start up the engine check the filter for leaks, then re fit the fairing
dont forget to take the tin foil of the exhaust.
It's that simple
