Well, glad you figured it out! I've been very lucky to have zero electrical/connection issue with my bike so far (knock on wood!) and not looking forward to it when it does happen...

I've had to tamp down my OCD when cleaning the bike and recognize that some of that grease/dirt mix can be a pretty good corrosion protectant and that some parts of the bike are going to get dirty literally 5 minutes down the road, regardless of what type of wax or cleaner I use on it.

Yea, my initial cleaning kinda spiraled out of control. What was supposed to be a quick wash turned into me pulling all the fairings and then busted out the steam cleaner. Lesson learned, I was a little too enthusiastic during the cleaning process.

It's as close as I'll ever get to owning a Porsche! Gotta treat her right!

Yea, this was the first time that my cleaning habit potentially ruined a sensor. I've always enjoyed detailing, its one of the things that I can focus on for hours at a time but yes sometimes its a little overkill.

I know there is a manual version of the CCT and most say its an improvement but I don't think I would be interested in doing the adjustments and all that over time. I bought the bike with just under 20k miles and it already had the noise, from what I read that's kinda the expected mileage for these CCTs to fail. It would probably take me 10+ years to rack up that much mileage.

Same here re: detailing. Don't ask my wife or girls how much time I spent on my Forester! Between mods and keeping it sparkly, well, probably waaay too much time! Nice thing about the bike is that I only need about half an hour to have her looking a-real good!

I bought, and was going to install, a manual CCTL when I did my valves. It came in handy when I had to repeatedly add/remove tension to the cam chain but, yeah, having a "fixed" tension just seems a bit sketchy to me. Now that I've removed it numerous times, I'm good with replacing it every 15-20,000 miles...
