Warm the bike up for about 10 minutes then set the idle. It should be at 1,300 + or - 100 rpm. Service manual 1-5. Where is your bike btw? I don't know if this matters, but do colder climates effect cold start idling?
f4ith, it does matter about the climate. good question. the colder, drier air will cause it to idle higher for longer until warm up. where as denser, warmer air warms up faster, but sometimes causes issues with overheating. damn humidity. but regardless, his bike wouldn't be idling at 5 grand just because it's cold. i live in northeast ohio, and it's november, and my bike idles at 3,000 rpm at 7am. did you make it to the screw Green??
