RE: bummed out on the cost of insurance
Yeah i have Auto through Geico and wanted to charge $4,000 for insurance. Yeah right!!!!!! But I ended up using Progressive , full coverage and $500 deductibles for $1,200 a year and its only $250 a year for just Liability. Never tried State Farm though might have to look into that.

RE: bummed out on the cost of insurance
I am 20 years old, had my drivers license suspended for 6 months have a 2000 F4 and pay $211 a month for full coverage and that is everything covered. I wrecked last year, $4,000 in damage and they paid for everything even got a few goodies instead of stock parts. I have had a lot of speeding tickets and a couple accidents, 1 in car and 1 on bike. So im getting raped with insurance.

Insurance is a crazy thing. 1st off they play games with you, they look at your credit and where you live, kinda like economic profiling. They are not supposed to look at your credit anymore but some companies still do. I have Geico and I moved 10 miles away and it raised 60 bucks every 6 months. When I first called them they told me something like 1600 a year. After reading the online policy I saw that they tried to take me for every thing, they had 1 million on personal injury and crap like that. I dropped it down to only theft and 50k injury( I am not sure of the exact numbers), basically the minimum and now I pay 400 a year. I figure I really only need theft, If I wreck it at my own fault I will just buy another, if some 1 else is at fault I will make them buy me 1. I know financing a bike makes it worse because of the full coverage you need. My wife had an 04 Katana that was 140 a year, lmao I wish the F4I was that cheap. It is all a bunch of BS. Where I live Geico was the cheapest next to start farm, but they have a notorious record of dropping people after 1 claim.

State farm told me the same thing. Accidents and tickets don't matter when it comes to motorcycle insurance either the underwriter accepts you or declines you. The CC's change everything. I'm 21 years old and I have a 10 year old bike and it's costing me $98.75 a month to insure my 1996 Honda 900rr. When I turn 23 it will do down more when I turn 25 the cost will be a third of that. On the computer the insurance people just see your name the year of the bike but what changed everything about my policy was the cc's. He did a 2006 900 vs. a 1996 900 and it was only a couple of dollars difference. Going 600 to 900 was a huuugggggggeeeeeeee difference. I'd pay no more than $60 bucks for a month on a 2006 600rr. I couldn't believe what he was showing me! I could own a brand new bike for less than my 900rr but, I LOVE MY BIKE!

RE: bummed out on the cost of insurance
I recently switched from Progressive to State Farm. And I saved a ton of money. A 2001 F4I runs me $185/6month for full coverage with $500 deductables. What I found out when I tried recommending State Farm to my girfriend, was the want a min of 9 years driving history. Anything less and they classify you as "youth driver". If you are under 25, Progressive is probably going to be better suited to your budget. Once you are 25 and have a clean record, State Farm and the like will become more afforable.
For the record, I have a mult-car discount of 10% (if I remember correctly).

RE: bummed out on the cost of insurance
I just got a quote from progressive and state farm for a 2006 f4i with full coverage. Wow, progressive wanted around $3000 a year with a $1000 deductable. State Farm sent me a quote of $100 a month with a $500 deductable and if I insure a car with the bike it goes down to $55 a month. I'm 20, no tickets or accidents on my record.
