That's the only part of your theory that makes sense. You need the friction to break in the engine, and to help remove any casting flaws. Once break-in is complete, you "should" switch to synthetic. It is your choice. Think of it like this. You only need the friction to break in the engine, engine break in is accomplished in the first 300 miles. After that you no longer want that type of friction in your engine if at all possible. Synthetics will accomplish this, however, synthetic blend oils will still break down as fast as regular oils. Full synthetics will not break down near as fast as a mineral based oil, therfore longer friction protection. By the way, there are way too many posts on here about synthetics. If you do a search you will find all the info you need.

I did search and couldn't find a single post telling me exactally WHEN I can put in a full synthetic oil. This was the closest I could find and atleast I didn't start a new topic obviously I DID search. =P
