Default break in period/oil question??

Hey just wanted to know if it is really a good idea to take my bike back to the dealership for its first check/oil change??
Is it all that important or could I just change the oil myself and all be well???

^ I'm guessing you meant that if the service is 100% free, why not...

Since 99% of them are NOT free, i suggest you find out what they do for the first service, FIRST. If it's just a oil change and a bolt torque check, a chain lube and adjustment, throttle cable and clutch cable adjustment (all stuff that takes a man maybe 3 hours total to do at home, if not less) and you don't mind paying a lot of money for labor charges, parts, and erroneous random and misc. charges... then i too agree. be aware that if you are totally oblivious to what they do, they could be charging you for just an oil change and a visual inspection... visual inspection you can do yourself for free (instead of paying someone $90/hr to do... for 2 hours) and the oil change is a 30 minute job and supplies cost less than $40.

it's all up to you.

Oil change? Do it yourself and maintain the receipts and a log to document it. If you don't and later have problems, you take a change on warrantee issues then, but if it's documented, you are good to go.
