Bike turns off when downshifting....?
I have an 05 f4i, i bought it from a friend that put 900 miles on it but hasnt driven it in 2 years. So it still has the original oil in it. He said he changed out the sparkplugs because of the gas eating them away but other than that no other work. I have been planning on getting the oil changed this week and have put about 160 miles on it since I got it. Last night when driving across the street the bike turned off when i was downshifting from 3rd, not a stall sound but just turning off naturally when this happens the oil light comes on and red light turns on. It started right back up with no problems. It did it one more time that same night when i was driving back again from a downshift. I dont know much about these so the only thing i can think is its the old oil but i have no idea (maybe the oil pressure?). any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks

I also think it may be a sensor problem. If not the side stand then the tip sensor. Don't know how aggressive the downshifts were but unless your idle is set way low there is no reason a downshift should choke her.
And ditto on the oil. 900 miles new and sitting for a couple years ... all kinds of nasty stuff in that oil.

so a really agressive down shift could cause it to idle out...i guess that makes since. I didnt think about that...who knows ill let yall know if it happens again im going to get the oil changed today.
Oh and should i get the other fuilds flushed or do you think they are okay?

The kickstand sensor wire is ran down along that area. When you downshift you could have an exposed wire. It's just something to look at. Is it actually idling out like its running out of gas or is it dropping dead on its face dying? If it were the tip over sensor it would most likely do it on a good jar, you could probably start the bike and then bounce the forks up and down harshly and see if it dies.
