bike randomly turns on?
Bought a 95 CBR 600 F3 about a year ago that had been mod for the digital (F4I I think) speedo. Until now I have had no electrical problems....
So I was out riding a few weeks ago on a nice 90 degree sunny day and stopped for a break, hit the kill switch and shut the ignition off. stood up and the bike turned back on. I messed around with it for the rest of the evening everytime I stopped and thought I had it narrowed down to a wiring problem around the steering column because it seemed to turn off and on when I turned the bars.
Parked it in my garage for 6 days making sure the bars were turned in such a way that the bike was off. Well the battery was completely shot, it had evidently turned on despite the handle bar location.
Replaced with new battery and took all the tape of the previous wiring job that was done by former owner. Now the problem could be replicated by just leaning on the gas tank, I couldn't possible be moving the entire bike more than an 1/8th of an inch. Moved the wires around some more and the problem ceased. Try as I might I couldn't repeat the problem. So I re-taped all the wires and washed it chalking it up to a short between the wires. About 20 mins after washing the bike it just turned right back on and I could not get it to shut off no matter what I did. Unhooked the battery this time and put it back in the garage.
This brings me to today. Iwas goingto tear the whole thing apart and start testing with a volt meter to determine if it was the ignition switch or a wire under the tank. Hooked the battery back up and it didn't turn on without the key in the on position. Took it for a ride and it started raining, still worked as it was suppose to.
I'm stumped. It doesn't seem to have anything to do with a loose wire. The ignition switch seems to be working with the key, it does it when its wet/dry/warm/cold. Is there some sort of relay that could somehow be flicking on and off?
Any help would be greatly appriciated! This is really cutting into my riding because I don't want to be stranded somewhere with a dead battery when I go to start it again.
PS: When I say turn on, I mean lights, tach, speedo, and you can even start it when it happens.
Thank you in advance!

maybe its a ghost that wants to go for a ride.
so your saying that it turns on randomly when you have the key in the on position, or when its in the off position?
it should turn the gauges and lights on as soon as you turn the key, regardless of the kill switch. if it doesnt do that then your problem isnt why is it turning on randomly, its why is it not always turning on.
