Hello All,
I have a 2002 Cbr600f4i with 39k miles. It's having some electrical issues when I try to turn it on and start the engine. Then it cuts out and displays this on the dash.
Some electrical work I have down is replacing the starter motor and replacing the ignition. The ignition I ordered didn't have a Zener diode so currently, I've got 9v wired to the security wire for the fuel. I've checked the starter relays the only thing I can think of would be the starter solenoid is going bad. But I'm open to any suggestions since this issue has been giving me quite the headache.
The key is in the off position in this photo. When the key is in the on the position the gauge is blank or the double dash is fading in and out. prime fuel pump.
Do you have 12v on the Black/Brown wire of the Black 9 pin connector going to the gauge cluster when the key is in the on position? Do you have 12v at the Red/Green wire of that same Black connector? Should be 12v all the time, whether key on or off.
I'll have to double-check but I'm pretty sure I do. Are there any other suggestions you have because when that happens it completely dies. When I disconnect the battery for a few minutes everything goes back to normal until I either hit the priming switch or the starter switch.
I hold start simple. Hook a jump box or car battery up to it and see if the problem goes away. Kinda sounds like the battery itself is trash. It might now the able ro handle a load, but lights and stuff kinda works.
