bike dies while on interstate....
ok guys, bought my first bike a few weeks ago, 01 cbr 600 f4i. love it! but last night it did something weird and i cant figure it out. we were just cruising at 80 on the interstate, and boom, dead. after turning the ignition switch off for 5 sec it fired right back up. is there some sort of "kill switch" or something in that bike that is needing to be reset? i might add that i just installed the headlight and things are kinda tight in the front fairing, so if there is some sort of kill switch in there it could very possibly be getting hit.
i have never worked on a bike before, but my cobra did something similar a few years ago and it was the kill switch for the fule pump, thats why im thinking that.
come on guys, help me out i need to get back on the road ASAP!!! lol

This identical problem happened to me for the last 3 weeks. Wasn't solely on the freeway though. It happened whenever. My problem turned out to be the big gray harness in the front of the bike. Usually this harness is covered with a rubber boot for water/dust protection. One side of the clip that holds it in broke off, had to jerry rig it together.
It was killing engine and headlights. Gauges and taillight remained on. Even if it disconnects slightly and connects back in on it's own it will shut the bike down until the key is turned off and then on again. Same problem I had, it sounds like.
