Default Bar positioning

I picked up a 06 F4I a month ago and must say it's the best bike I've ridden! Love everything about the F4I. I have noticed that after riding for 30 minutes or more, the outside edge of my palms really hurt, to the point where I have to stop and give them a good shake. I believe it is the handlebar position, and the pressure from this position on my palms.

My question is, has anyone experienced this problem, and if so, has anyone adjusted their handlebars from the stock position, AND, has it helped!

Any insight or stories of like problem would be greatly appreciated and better help me to understand how to resolve this minor issue.

Great pics of your rides all, thanks for making the forum a great place to be!

i wouldnt mess with tryin to adjust ur handlebars although i dont know much about em i imagine there in the postion they are for a reason, just try and not push on them so hard when riding u may not even realize it but i would imigane thats what u are doin cause at first my hands would hurt or go to sleep but try gettin a good pair of gloves and try to relax more with the handlebars, u will eventually find a more comfortable position for ur hands although i imagine u will never be able to completely rid urself of probs with ur hands, u can prolly only make it better.

It's best to keep your forearms as parallel to the ground as possible, with your elbows bent to achieve this. This way you're not supporting your weight on your hands at the bars. Also makes for better handling.

put your nuts against the tank, and support your weight with your back and stomach muscles. Oh yea, watch out for potholes.

Thanks for the info people, I tried your suggestions and they do work. I'm using an older pair of Fox gloves, so perhaps I should pickup a new pair and see how that helps.

Thanks again for all your suggestions, I appreciate it!!

I used to fatigue quickly also, but noticed that i was death gripping and leaning on my wrists very hard. I try and support myself with my stomach more in traffic now and just gently rest my hands on the bars as opposed to having all my weight on my arms. Riding one handed for a while helps, too so i can stretch my back out.

I work 15 miles away from my house, but it takes me 45 min. That is the kind of traffic i deal with.

+1 to all of the suggestions above. Use your lower body (larger muscles) to support yourself on the bike.

Also, check out HVMP.Com for their heavy weighted bar ends. I got a pair for my '06 F4i (approx. $60) and could not believe the difference they made. Vibration is virtually eliminated.

No pics of my bike available but their website has many pics of different bikes with the bar ends installed. I love the look of mine.
