Air Filter
How often is it recommended to change this? I bought my bike used at 8200 miles and I have about 9100 right now (less then a month
). Also, how do I go about changing this. Unfortunately the bike that bought didn't come with a service manual or mantaince manual
I saw an article https://cbrforum.com/m_100118/tm.htm
SquireSCA wrote I have read many things that say that it makes less power, unless you do a full system and need the extra intake and tune for it.
There are several theories as to why this is, many of them centered on the idea that the K&N creates turbulence in the airbox.
There was also an exhaustive review of air filters and the one that let the most particles and dirt into the motor, was the K&N, or at least it was one of the worst offenders. For me, I don't care about saving $50 a year. It's inconsequential. I would rather have the right filter that keeps junk out of the engine and takes 15 minutes to swap out.
Can anyone vouch for that? Because I have been trying to dig up articles and I am not having any luck.
What air filter would you go with? Also, is it really necessary to get a Power Commander when going with K&N? Thanks

Done it a dozen times or more, removing the duct covers without removing the fairings

Honda recommendschange at 10K. I heard bad things about K&N air filters not preventing particles from entering the engine but cannot vouch for that. BMC is supposed to be a really good air filter but I did not hear anything about having to remap/PC the bike afterwards. I havealways run the stock filter.
I'm sure you can which is probably the smart thing to do. I justreplaced mine a few months back and none of the local Hondadealers stock them (4 different places). They had to order it which took a week. Made me reallyfeel their love formy F4i.
I got a K&N don't buy one ! it don't seal good around the edges. Stock is work of art it has fins or air deflecters for air flow & metal screen. I'm going to put my stock back in. anyone want a K&N for $25. ?
I believe 10k miles change-outis about right unless you ride ina very dusty area.
Also, since these arerace bikes, Honda has gone to extremes todesignan airfilter
for optimum airflow and to oversize itfor its actualneeds. Having a recleanable
aftermarket air filter isnt that cost effective because you dont change it that often.
