Unhappy 2nd gear strange problem...

Hello,

I'm not new to bikes but I am new to street bikes so let me see if anyone here has experienced this on their F4i's. The bike is an '06 with just over 5k miles. When I bought it a few months ago it had been sitting since 2013... About 4 years. I did an oil/filter change, fresh gas, and fresh chain and sprokets. The problem I'm experiencing is only in 2nd gear the bike will buck violently and make a terrible clunking noise if I go more than 1/4 throttle past 3-6k rpm. Never pops out of gear, no false neutrals, no normal signs of 2nd gear wear. Just a violent buck or 2 and then stays in second and will rev out as high as I want. I couldn't seem to find an answer anywhere else so I figured I'd pick your brains a bit.

So it does this only in second, and not in any other gear? Cause that makes about as much sense as common core math.

My point exactly. And it bogs down a bit before it does it so I always know right before it's going to happen. I don't get it!

As far as Im aware, there is no gear indicator for the bike internally, meaning the bike never knows what gear its in. So this would have to be some sort of transmission/gearset problem, otherwise it should happen regardless of gear choosen.
