Exclamation 2003 F4i Normal Operating Temps?

I recently took my newly acquired 2003 F4i for an actual ride and felt like the temps were a little too high. Temperature outside was around 80 F When sitting at a light that didn't catch me the first time it hit 250 F and signaled the light. Once i got moving(about 60 mph) it went down to around 220 - 230 and then seemed to stay around there the entire ride back home through normal traffic and stop lights. I've heard these run hot but I'm concerned that it set the warning light off. Any help would be appreciated. Ideas for fixes or if i just need to check my coolant and quit being a pansy. Either way I'm fine lol.

Those temps are definitely high! My bike might hit 220 or so when sitting at a light during warm weather. When moving, it'll be between 170-180, depending on speed and airflow.

Start by making sure you do, indeed, have enough coolant. After that, move on to checking the thermostat. I'd be very leery of riding it until that issue is fixed. You don't want to burn the motor up...

Turns out my fan wasn't plugged in thanks to the previous owners. Yes i should have checked but...how would i have known? Either way plugged it in rode it around town for a little. I believe the highest it hit was around 230 at a light, but the fan would kick on and she stayed around 200-220 for the most part. So i believe i found my problem lol

Cool... literally!

Just keep a close eye on it. 230 still seems a bit high but definitely better than 250!

250 is overheat. Anything under is considered acceptable. Your slightly high but nothing to worry about. A good flush and new coolant will probably help.

Previous owner actually already flushed and added new coolant as well as a bunch of other nice maintenance things. Coolant is brand new, yes I checked to be sure lol. The temps dont seem to be high enough to cause me concern at this point. Simple fix, I'm happy with that
