pretty sure you turn the ignition to run and it blinks. at least thats how mine reacted. ran it, FI started blinking, i freaked out, turned it off, turned the igition on 2 blinks..
looked it up pluged the hose in, and it cleared itself.

im blatantly ripping this off from another forum you will get if you google f4i fi lgiht codes

edit: hell that list is incomplete, remember long blinks 1.3 seconds are 10's short blinks .5 seconds are 1's

I have no idea how to help you but Im extemely happy to see you call it the FI light instead of the F1 light. I've started telling people who ask about the F1 light that it means the bike is in race mode.

Mine has been doing the same, but only on cold mornings. warm days or later in the day it will not come on, blink or anything. Bike still runs smooth and no other issues other than cold mornings the light blinks and will stay on for the first ride into work.

I am in NH and assume you are in MA, perhaps the same issue as me since we have had some cold mornings.

under the main seat is a two wire plug. I think brown and green. turn the bike off jump the two connectors with one piece of wire and turn the key on and the bike to run. It will blink the codes. I will find the codes and post them if you need them.

It blinked 2 then 9 then 1 long and 9 more does that mean 2 codes a 9 and 19? But I started it today and the FI light turned off and took for a ride ,no Backfire......so I decided to take apart for the season.

If there's a code, the FI will flash your code(s). Count the flashes.

There's long blinks amd short blinks.

Long = 1.3 seconds

Short = .5 seconds

If you have a long blink, the 3 short ones.....that's 13.

A long blink = 10

A short blink = 1

9 short blinks = 9....and so on.

Let us know....

CODES:

0 - bank angle sensor, ECM, PGM-FI fuse
1 - MAP sensor
2 - MAP sensor vacuum hoses, or sensor itself
7 - ECT sensor poorly connected or open circuit
8 - TP sensor, TP senspr wiring
9 - IAT sensor connection, or open wire
10 - Baro sensor, or connection, or wiring
11 - Vehicle speed sensor, or connection or wiring
12 - #1 injector connection, or faulty injector
13 - #2 injectior connection or faulty injector
14 - #1 connection or open/shorted circuit
15 - #2 connection or open/shorted circuit
18 - Cam pulse sensor, connection or loose sensor
19 - Ignition pulse sensor, connection or loose sensor
20 - faulty E-PROM in ECM.
