My Problem: After riding the bike for more than 20 minutes or so and the running temperature is warm (around 230 degrees, or so), the oil light will illuminate/flash when I come to a stop and idle. ONLY when the bike is idling/not moving, and ONLY when the temperature is up there. As soon as I continue to ride and the rev's go back up, the light goes back off. The idle is hardly effected, if at all by the light being on. Bike shuts off when stationary, oil light comes on only when the running temperature is near 230ish. When moving, oil light goes back off. Oil level is fine- spark plugs changed very recently. What's the issue.

 

hows your coolant level and is the cooling fan working, cause ive never seen my bike get above 220 the fan kicks on at 215?

 

not positive cause ive never heard of it before but maybe bikes have a kill feature for if the temp gets to hot, cause while your riding the temp will go down as the wind cools it and coolant is pumped thru the motor more rapidly.

 

fan turns on at 232 AND OFF AT 228 coolant level is full

 

fan should be ON AT 220F-222F. Ive never seen my temp above 225F and ive ridden in rush hour traffic with the air temp over 110F. your fan switch is not running correctly.

 

I just ran a manual fan switch with a spst switch with a fuse in the middle lets see what happens
