RE: 1 Sided swing arm
well if you can find a good deal maybe 600$ for the whole swingarm thats shock linkage all that junk then machineing time maybe 400$ labor for some on to do it bout 2 hours unless you do it yourself and depends if you want to go with a stock wheel or use a car wheel and get a spacer made so you can run a 220mm rear

I think a single rear swing arm would be a sick mod, if that's what you like.
There is a guy in my area that I have seen who has an F4I, I am not sure what the year is that the guy has but, he has a single rear swing arm. He Has taken A stock honda VFR 800 single sided rear swing arm and put it in place of his stock honda F4I rear swing arm. I am guessing that you could inquire with your local honda parts guy to get the measurements and specs of both rear swing arms and go from there. You may have to get a rear swing are from a different year bike than yours but, I know I have seen it so it can be done.
There is a photo of a VFR800 @ www.bikeadvice.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2009/05/2009-honda-vfr800.jpg
I don't think that honda would have built the VFR 800 for the past 10 years If there was or is a possibilty of the rear axle and/or rear wheel "popping" off.
The only issue that I can fore see would be improper wheel mounting or improper torque specs on the wheel fasteners.
