Single Sided Swing Arm

Single Sided Swing Arm
I know this topic was brought up before but I haven't really learned to much from the other posts.
I think it would be really cool to put a single sided swing arm on my F2. I love the look of the 1990-92 VFR750s. Does anyone knowif there are anyswing arms that will fit (either a vfr or custom)?
Has anyone done this to a F2 or any bike?
What has to be moddified if I go through with it?
Are there any write ups (that I couldn't find in the search) that you guys know of?

RE: Single Sided Swing Arm
I used a 1994 VFR 750 single sided swingarm on my F3. The F3 and F2 frames are similar. Once you have the swingarm you will have to find some parts like spacers, bearings, swingarm bolt, chain, and shock. All this parts needed to found or made. It really was not hard doing the mod you just have to take time and find the parts. Not too much had to modified I used a vfr overflow bottle and moved some parts around to make room for the VFR shock that I used. I have seen people use different shocks so what ever works for you. Search around on the different sites for info and do a google search for the info. I am sure that you will find what you need.

RE: Single Sided Swing Arm
This is my set up. I had this made by a company in the U.K. The swing arm is mad to spec so it bolts right up using your stock shock and linkage. All you have to do is decide which rear wheel assy. you want to use( vfr, nt650, mv, triumph, rc45, ducati, etc). I used the nt650 but I do recommend going with the ducati hub assy. After market wheels are alot easier to find. You can also findused Ducati parts easier. The swingarm itself is about $1200. The parts depend on if you go new or used. You can usually find used stuff for under $500.

RE: Single Sided Swing Arm
Hi Guys, I'm new to this site (found it on google). I have a CBR750FJ(1988) HurricaneJap import, bought it 10 years ago with 6000 miles on the clock. This bike is very very similar to the CBR1000 Hurricane(87/89), except it has gear driven cams instead of chain driven cams. Two years ago I started to modify the rear end with a VFR750 FN(92) SSS arm, I saw a CBR1000 Hurricane on a US site & decided to copy it.It has taken me this time to finish the job, & I agree with VALKYIE & rsp919 it is'nt a difficult job. Yes I had to cut the original top shock mounting bracket & prefab a new one, bore out the swing arm pivot bolt holes in the frame side members from 15mm to 20mm as the VFR pivot bolt is 20mm. I wish now that I had used a VFR750 FR/FV sss arm because it would of been easier with that shock linkage the same as the 900 Fireblades, never mind I've done it now. The rear wheel is a 1997 VFR 5 spoke instead of the earlier 8 spoke wheel, might change it to a 8 spoke some other time. This has cost me about £600 (1200$), used or new parts are horrendous in the UK. I have a set offront forks & wheelfrom aVFR750 FR/FV so thats going to be be the next mod. I am going to attach some pics, there not the latest. The CBR1000 pic is from the US site. Best wishes Richard.
